A stop-motion animation by two Americans has won the world’s largest short film festival, Tropfest, in Australia.

The film called Shiny, by Los Angeles filmmakers Spencer Susser and Daniel Campos, uses the clothing of people to tell the story of a battle for a diamond

“A damsel in distress gets undressed when a man from the midwest puts to rest a world that’s obsessed with the priceless, also know as ‘the shiny,'” the video description reads. Translation: Love is more important than material possessions

Susser and Campos beat out 16 finalists in the competition, which pulled an audience of close to 100,000 people to Centennial Park in Sydney. The short films must all be under seven minutes long, be made specifically for Tropfest and include the Tropfest signature item, which this year is “card.” Read more…

Maybe you’re having a rough day at the office. Maybe you’re sitting home alone feeling kinda blue

Well, take heart — at least you didn’t try to lift 855 pounds, then fail, sending massive plates clanging all over a semi-public place. Because that’s exactly what the guy in the video above did

Watch the entire two-and-a-half minute video for the full effect, or just skip ahead to 1:40 to get to the action

Our protagonist here doesn’t seem too bothered by his big fail, though. Maybe that’s actually the lesson in all this: If you’re having a tough day, just brush that stress of your shoulder like 855 pounds of weight and keep things moving Read more…

Nissan’s seven-seater Rogue crossover has a great all-wheel drive system. It can’t, say, climb a 45-degree snow-packed slope at speeds of 60 miles per hour. The Rogue Warrior can, however.

That’s because it’s been fitted with the Dominator track system from American Track Truck. Ignoring the 23 inches of ground clearance and treads that would make General Patton green with envy, Nissan brags the Rogue Warrior is otherwise stock. I don’t want to say that’s a leap, but that’s like saying the Oscar-Meier Wiener mobile is a stock Ram 1500 pickup, aside from the wiener. Read more…

Nissan is not afraid to give credit where credit is due.

As the Japanese automaker looks to stake out a bigger claim to the pickup truck market with its super-sized new Titan XD model, it’s taking the unusual step of tipping a hat to its more established, dominant American rivals in its advertising.

In a dramatic new 90-second commercial spot called “Shoulders of Giants” that debuted during the National Football Championship on Monday night, Nissan seems to admit that its new truck would not be possible without the ground already broken by Detroit’s Big Three
