It’s pretty brave to step up and open up about a tragedy in the family, especially when you’re auditioning for a TV show.

That’s what 14-year-old Fletcher Pilon from the Central Coast in New South Wales did in an episode of Australia’s Got Talent on Sunday. The teenager wrote and performed a song in tribute to his 10-year-old brother Banjo, who he lost only months ago. Banjo was skateboarding when he was hit by a car in August.

Pilon’s touching performance was met with tears and a standing ovation from the crowd and the judges, in awe of his ability to perform so shortly after his brother’s death. Not to mention Pilon has an incredible voice. His performance is absolutely spine-tingling. Read more…

Alaskan man dances to Alicia Keys with powerfully strange moves

There is no wrong way to dance — but there are ways that defy human interpretation.

In this video, which was uploaded on Monday and has since been viewed over 95,000 times, an Alaskan man dances to Alicia Keys’ “No One.” No one can quite figure out what he’s doing, or why there’s a man with a 1985 boombox in the background. Still, there’s something mesmerizing about a bearded man, dancing to a dated song, on a deck.

Do not try this under the influence. Dance responsibly.

After rebranding and new financing, Chinese filament manufacturer Polymaker has quickly become one of the leading materials providers in the world, releasing new functional and exotic filaments on a regular basis and partnering with some important players.  The latest big line from the company is its polycarbonate material Polymaker PC, developed in partnership with Covestro (formerly known as Bayer Material Science). Nintendo Classic ‘Duck Hunt’ Rebooted in VR

Nintendo Classic ‘Duck Hunt’ Rebooted in VR

By Tyler Koslow

One of the most iconic and popular video games of all time, Nintendo’s 1984 NES title Duck Hunt, might be a bit outdated, but who is to say that the classics can’t be reborn with a little help from emerging 3D technology? After attending this year’s Global Game Jam event, one 21-year-old developer from New Jersey named Joesph Delgado became inspired to take Duck Hunt, now over 30-years-old by the way, and reformat it for Virtual Reality.

I’m sure there were a lot of elements of both VR and Duck Hunt for Delgado to consider, implementing the classic Nintendo gun controller, tracking hand motions and ducks, and just making the VR experience as enjoyable as possible, for instance.…

Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve loved sewage treatment plants

From the moment I first downloaded Sim City to today, I’ve had a deep, abiding passion for wastewater management systems — and wanted to share that part of my life with someone special.

So when I saw that Brooklyn’s very own Newtown Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant was having a special Valentine’s Day tour, I hatched a plan. I threw up my most highly-ranked profile picture and put a call out on Tinder, Facebook and OkCupid to find a date.

How to 3D Print in Full Color: DIY Style

By Tyler Koslow

From Taiwan to Ireland, 3D printing enthusiasts around the world are preparing for the next big thing in additive manufacturing: full color 3D printing. 3D printing companies such as 3D Systems previously dominated the full color 3D printing race with the ColorJet Printing, but their hefty price tag of around $40k is discouraging for your average Maker and 3D printing enthusiasts. One user from Instructables.com named Jason Powell has just come up with a DIY path to bring full-color 3D printing to his redesigned Rostock Max, the popular delta 3D printer with a mere $1,000 price tag, making for a much more affordable color printer than any other company on the market.…

Apparently, the entire cast of E.R. was too busy to show up for Jimmy Kimmel’s ill-fated reunion.

In an excellent sketch from Tuesday night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, guest George Clooney decided to go ahead with a one-man cast reunion, despite a few special appearances from characters who aren’t exactly from the E.R. canon

But the show must go on — “When George Clooney says he’s gonna show up for an E.R. reunion, George Clooney does it.”

A group of skaters attempting to enjoy the fresh ice turned their outing into an animal rescue.

While out on an ice skating tour of Båven in Sweden, a group spotted four wild boars on the frozen water, unable to navigate the slippery ice.

According to the Swedish nature website Natursidan, the group believes that the boars were trapped on a small island, and when they ran out of food, they attempted an escape to the mainland but were unsuccessful

Fortunately, the group of skaters flexed their curling skills, and were able to gently push all four of the boars to the lake’s shore.

Although this may look like a bit of harsh way to rescue these animals, the group noted that some of the boars were a bit aggressive when approached. So, their sticks allowed them to push the boars at a safe distance. Read more…
