James Franco defies the odds in Hulu’s compelling ‘11.22.63’

“You’re not supposed to be here.”

Jake Epping hears these words over and over again throughout the nearly 90-minute premiere episode of the new time-travel thriller 11.22.63 — and after a while, it starts to feel like the statement is meant for more than just the hero at the heart of the show.

On several levels, 11.22.63 feels like an unlikely beast. It’s based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name, adapted by J.J. Abrams and his Bad Robot production company, starring the debatably too-prolific James Franco, and released on … Hulu? It’s an A-list roster of talent and an intriguing choice of venue, but not exactly a selection of ingredients one would expect to see in the same cauldron. Read more…

Dead Game of Thrones characters from the past are honored in a new promo for the upcoming Season 6 — but that’s not the most haunting part. The most chilling part is who else is in the promo.

In the teaser, released on Sunday, Tyrion, Sansa, Daenerys and more also appear in the Hall of Faces. (!!!)

“The long night is coming,” Jon Snow can be heard saying, “and the dead come with it.”

What does it all mean? Definitive answers await us when Game of Thrones returns April 24.

In the meantime, share your theories, analysis and OMGs with us below.

Warning: This post contains spoilers about the latest episode of The Walking Dead. Don’t continue reading if you don’t want to know.

Well, that was horrific

Let’s not beat around the walker gut-splattered bush here: After assuming Carl’s eyeball had survived a climactic midseason finale showdown with Jessie’s greasy-haired teen spawn, it turns out the writers didn’t abandon the Carl loses an eye plot — they were just saving it for Sunday night

Assuming he was safe, of course, was a foolish move. Because this show is cruel and feeds off our trauma and pain. God bless it Read more…

Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead unless you’ve watched this week’s episode of The Walking Dead.

Our Walking Dead family is finally back together … but for how long?

After a long stretch of episodes where our regulars were separated and off fighting different fights, seeing everyone working together in last night’s midseason premiere was a glorious sight.

But, as regular viewers of AMC’s hit thriller know, it’s never long from the time one battle ends and another materializes and that’s what season 6B is all about.

As Melissa McBride, who brings a fierce heart to the show as Carol, told us in a preview for the return episode, there are many threats coming their way besides the imminent appearance of Jeffrey Dead Morgan as villainous Negan Read more…

With the end nigh, The Good Wife returns to where it all began: the 27th floor of Lockhart & Gardner

Yes, as the last episode hinted, Alicia returns to Lockhart Agos & Lee as a junior partner and brings Lucca along with her. Unfortunately, there isn’t enough room on the 28th floor for Alicia, so she is back on the 27th, where she began the series

“27th floor again? Everything comes full circle doesn’t it?” Eli notes when Alicia finds him laying on her couch. You know, how he used to do when they first met

As we’ve seen throughout this season, the show has been repeating itself, alluding to and echoing past events. Now that we know the show is ending, all of that has started to make sense. With everything Alicia has learned over these past seven season, it’s time to take her back where she started and see how she will apply that all Read more…

In case you hadn’t gotten the memo: The new episode of Grey’s Anatomy was excruciating

Going into the episode — the show’s first of 2016 — we knew that Meredith was going to be attacked by a patient. What we didn’t know was how much more complicated it was than that.

The episode began with a big accident involving a flipped over big rig that brought several victims to the hospital. One of them was a kind older gentleman who Meredith quickly befriended, trading pleasantries about kids and family. The happy talk stopped when the man started having a violent seizure. Little did we know, this seizure would cause him to experience temporary hyper aggression — a side effect Owen explained later, after they found Meredith severely injured on the floor Read more…

“Bad things happen when the birds gather.”

With those words, the The X-Files got its creep back

Sure, the miniseries technically began Sunday night, but its re-premiere was muddled, confusing and, worst of all, boring. That changed Monday night as ravens swarmed to a yard while a scientist heard a shrieking frequency inside his own head, which he quieted by slowly — oh God, so slowly — driving a letter opener into his skull.

“Founder’s Mutation,” the second episode in the six-episode miniseries, contained all the hallmarks of wonderfully uneasy, creepy and otherworldly television Read more…
