LOS ANGELES — Another day, another (potential) streaming service.

According to a Bloomberg report published on Monday, The CW — a joint venture between Warner Bros. and CBS Corp. — has plans to launch its own streaming service

The news of the potential stand alone service comes as The CW’s deals with Hulu, Netflix and Tribune Media Co. are almost up.

The network already gives fans access to a handful of shows and originals on CW Seed, a digital entertainment offshoot The CW launched three years ago. CBS also has CBS All Access and Time Warner has HBO Now. Read more…

Love will be in the air in February, and not just because of Valentine’s Day.

Netflix announced Monday that Judd Apatow’s new 10-part comedy series — titled Love — will premiere on the streaming platform Feb. 19.

Though the first trailer isn’t too flashy, the show promises to provide
an “excruciatingly honest take on modern relationships.”

According to Netflix’s description, the series follows nice guy Gus (Paul Rust) and wild-child Mickey (Gillian Jacobs) “as they navigate the exhilarations and humiliations of intimacy, commitment, love and other things they were hoping to avoid.” Read more…

Prisoner Steven Avery is receiving support online as a petition demanding a presidential pardon and his release from prison steamrolls towards its 200,000 target. The petition currently has 161,000 supporters.

The Change.org petition calls Steven Avery’s treatment “unconstitutional” and demands his release, as well as the prosecution of “the Manitowoc County officials complicit in his two false imprisonments.”

Steven Avery, who is currently serving life in prison for the murder of photographer Teresa Halbach, shot to international fame when Netflix released a 10-part documentary, Making a Murderer, taped over the course of 10 years by filmmakers Moira Demos and Laura Ricciardi in December 2015 Read more…

The streaming network announced Monday that it is launching a whole new set of special kid-sized countdowns so parents can make anytime midnight on NYE.

According to an global survey conducted by Netflix, about 58% of parents said they “would jump at the chance to put their kids to bed before the clock strikes twelve on New Year’s Eve.” (The Netflix study, which was conducted from Dec. 4-15 through SurveyMonkey Audience, surveyed 9,128 parents in the U.S., U.K., France, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Italy, Spain and Mexico.)
