It’s an age old question: Can cutting pizza ever be truly equal?
Many have wracked their brains trying to devise the perfect slice. Some cut in large triangles, which doesn’t always go as planned; others cut in small slivers; still others opt for the rather unpopular (and frankly, sadistic) square piece.
You just can’t please everyone. But mathematicians Joel Haddley and Stephen Worsley at University of Liverpool in England believe they have cracked the code for perfect equality at the dinner table by cutting somewhat complex, curved slices — also known as monohedral disc tiling. Read more…
