Waterlogged scenes as the clean-up begins in flooded parts of England
Prime Minister David Cameron visited northern England Monday as a huge clean-up operation began after several days of heavy rain and flooding in the region. Pubs emptied out their contents, residents were whisked to safety, and helicopters brought supplies as large parts of Yorkshire and beyond took stock. 500 soldiers have been deployed to help.
27 flood warnings remain in place and the Environment Agency has said there needs to be a “complete rethink” of the country’s flood defences.
