Australia might be well known as a sparse continent, but it is about to reach a major milestone.

The country will hit a population of 24 million people on Feb. 16 at 12:51 a.m. AEDT, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS)

“We’ve reached a population of 24 million sooner than we expected, as predicted 10 or 15 years ago,” Andrew Howe, a demographer at the ABS told Mashable Australia.

Unfortunately, there is no official 24 millionth person Down Under, as it’s based on estimates. The population number is worked out by a total population increase of one person every 1 minute and 31 seconds, which is an estimate that takes into account births, deaths and overseas migration.
