Valentine’s Day doesn’t always go as planned. Sometimes that bouquet of flowers shows up dead. Strawberries show up rotten. And cucumbers dress up as … dildos?

It just doesn’t always work out.

1-800-Flowers is familiar with this. After it failed to meet some customers’ expectations last year, the company pledged to do better. And while the Tweetstorm appears to have subsided in 2016, people rose through the optimism and found a way to be disappointed. Not only with the floral delivery service, but with a handful of other companies as well Read more…

Love him or hate him, former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has long demonstrated a sincere frankness when it comes to racism and Indigenous issues in his home country.

Rudd returned to Sydney — he now resides in New York as President of the Asia Society Policy Institute—to speak of the “low, steady hum of racism” that remains in Australia at a Friday event commemorating a historic apology he delivered eight years ago to Australia’s Indigenous people for the “indignities” they faced since European settlement more than 200 years ago.

LONDON — It’s always nice when supermarkets throw in extra items for free, but it’s less so when the items in question happen to be moving.

Or when they happen to be rats.

A family in Essex recently received a home delivery from Tesco that came with a hairy, less-than-welcome surprise, ITV reports. The wriggling stowaway was discovered by 19-year-old Beckie Richardson, who spotted the beast snuffling around beside the smarties when she lifted one of the shopping crates.

“My daughter was so traumatised by it that she had a panic attack and fell on the floor and rather than getting away from the rat, I had to look after her,” said mother Sue Richardson. Read more…

LONDON — Once you’ve seen the shape in the cloud formation pictured above, you won’t be able to unsee it.

Photographer Ceri Oakes took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to share a photo of some nacreous clouds taken in North Yorkshire, UK — but the picture ended up capturing people’s attention for different reasons.

The photo was taken by Oakes’ future mother-in-law and it all looks innocent enough at first glance.

Upon closer inspection, though, it appeared there were certain shapes that stood out among the colours.

Yep. It’s there alright. Read more…
